Industrial chemicals are where supplier fraud has real consequences. We verify the manufacturer in person, check production documentation, and confirm purity claims before your shipment is prepared.

A few weeks ago we received a message from a buyer in Surabaya, Indonesia. He was looking for 50% concentration hydrogen peroxide — and his need wasn’t finding the lowest price. He had that already, after months of searching directories and export websites. What he needed was harder to get: an agent in China capable of verifying whether those companies were legitimate, and of finding the real person behind the export sales contact.
He gave us two specific requests:
He shared an export data list with ten companies associated with HS code 2847000000 (hydrogen peroxide). Most were clustered near Jiangsu — names like Wuxi Dongfeng New Energy Technology, Tianjin Jusheng Chemical, and Shisoko (Zhenjiang) Chemicals. On the surface, a solid list. But when we looked closely, the first problem emerged: a good portion of those companies were trading companies, not direct manufacturers — something a foreign buyer, without access to China’s business registration system, can’t easily tell apart on their own.
The client had no way of knowing that the supplier’s geographic location would completely change the cost equation. Only one port in Guangxi (China) sits genuinely close to Surabaya. Every other option on the list carried a structural logistical disadvantage:
That ~1,000-nautical-mile difference translates into real cost savings per container out of Guangxi:
Several Jiangsu factories are also inland, adding overland trucking costs that rarely appear in the initial quote.
The hardest part wasn’t analyzing the logistics — it was getting to a real person. It’s common for a foreign buyer to find a Chinese manufacturer’s official website, email, or fax number and still never get a response. These are channels many factories keep outdated, not managed by anyone with authority to negotiate exports.
Through direct on-the-ground contact, we got the client a conversation with the general manager of one of the hydrogen peroxide manufacturers — something that would have been practically impossible through public channels.
In the end, the price difference didn’t allow the deal to close. Not every case ends in a purchase order — and that’s also valuable. The client finished the process knowing exactly which companies were real manufacturers and which were middlemen, which port worked best by geography, and with a direct line of communication to the factory for future negotiations.
We’re sharing this case because it illustrates the kind of work that moves the needle before signing any contract: verifying who’s on the other side, understanding the geography that defines your logistics cost, and opening a real line of communication with whoever makes the decisions.
