The BYD Dolphin Mini — sold in China and some other markets as the BYD Seagull — uses two completely different wheels, and it's an easy mix-up. The road wheels — what the car actually drives on — are aluminum alloy, listed at 5J×15 and 5.5J×16, both at ET45 (source: wheel-size.com). The spare wheel is a different part entirely: a steel 15×3.5 wheel at ET 30, which we verified directly with a factory on a real order — see the case above. Both share the same bolt pattern and center bore, PCD 4×100 and 54.1 mm (source: BONOSS fitment listing), which is exactly why the two specs get confused. Different sources, trims, and model years can disagree on the details, so before you order, confirm against the specific vehicle's VIN or factory spec sheet — the same standard we held the spare wheel order to.

OEM Wheel Production Process
A real OEM-line wheel goes through low-pressure casting or forging, CNC machining of the bolt circle and hub bore, static and dynamic balancing, then a multi-stage coating (primer, base, clear) before final inspection. Factories that skip CNC finishing on the bore tolerance are the ones that ship a wheel that "almost" centers — and almost is what causes vibration at highway speed.
Aluminum Alloy Material
Aluminum road wheels are cast from an aluminum-silicon alloy and heat-treated afterward to reach the strength a passenger vehicle needs. The exact alloy grade varies by factory, and we haven't found a published, Seagull-specific figure we'd stand behind, so we don't quote one. Forged vs. Cast Wheels

Forged wheels cost 2–4× more but weigh less and resist cracking under impact — worth it for a premium aftermarket line, overkill for a standard replacement-parts catalog.
Quality Inspection

Most Guangzhou-area wheel factories quote an MOQ of 100–200 units per size/finish for a private-label or custom-offset run; some accept 50 units at a price premium. Custom finishes (gunmetal, machined-face, bronze) typically add 5–10 days to lead time. Any factory quoting a Dolphin Mini-fitment custom wheel at under 50 units with no premium is usually reselling stock they already have in a warehouse — not manufacturing to your spec.

Factory Audit Checklist — What We Verify On Site
- Business license matches the name on the contract and bank account
- CNC machining line present for bore/bolt-circle finishing — not just a casting shop
- Mill certificate for the aluminum or steel batch, not just a wheel spec sheet
- Balancing and air-leak test stations on the actual production floor
- Sample wheel installed on a real Seagull (or matching hub jig) with no spacer
- Export history — prior shipments to Latin America or other humid/coastal markets
- Packaging method suited for ocean freight, not just domestic distribution

LED Lighting
Guangzhou is the world's LED auto parts hub, and also where the wattage numbers are least reliable. A bulb listed as “60W, 12,000LM” typically measures 28–34W and 4,500–6,000LM under real load — the sample passes, then the bulk run gets quietly re-binned to a lower output tier. A second common pattern is chipset substitution: a named brand chip costs roughly $0.80–$1.20 per die versus $0.15–$0.25 for an unbranded substitute, and the failure shows up 3–6 months after installation, not in QC. For any market with lighting regulations, we check that the DOT/ECE/CE certificate number actually matches your part number, not just the listing photo.

OEM/ODM Private Label
Most buyers who ask us about “OEM” actually need ODM. OEM means you supply the design and the factory builds dedicated tooling to your spec — typical minimums run 500 to 5,000+ units with a $2,000–$15,000 tooling deposit. ODM means the factory already owns the design and tooling and you brand it, with MOQs closer to 100–300 units and little or no tooling cost. The real risk isn't the model you pick — it's an “ODM factory” that doesn't actually own the tooling it's showing you, subcontracting your order to a shop it doesn't control. Lower-risk categories to launch first: wiper blades, cabin air filters, LED bulb replacements — save wheels and brakes for later, since fitment tolerances vary by vehicle generation.
